BATMAN CAN WEAR LADIES’ CLOTHES SO WHY NOT US?

Posted in Batman, Fashion, movies, Top Dollar News, Twits by Jim McMillan on August 7, 2008

You may have to be a macho masked vigilante to get away with wearing pantyhose. But men all over the world are giving it a try anyway. Since the release of The Dark Knight, there has been a sudden craze for male hosiery, with suspected Batman fetishists buying up sheer, satin and glossy tights.

“We aren’t sure if it is the Batman effect or what, but sales to men have been going through the roof,” Kieran Hughes, director of Precious Collections tells the Atlanta Constitution Journal. Has the world gone mad? Not according to Deborah Ashley, managing director of Luxelegwear.com, who says: “Men have begun to dominate the hosiery market once owned by women.” The company carries 13 styles designed specifically for men.

MONSTER? NO JUST A MONSTOUSLY AMUSING MOVIE HOAX!

Posted in Celebutards, How much???, movies, Top Dollar News, Twits by Jim McMillan on August 7, 2008

Goldberg
The so-called Monster of Montauk may have just been a publicity stunt dreamed up by the makers of a low budget horror movie. New claims have come to light that Rachel Goldberg, the woman who discovered the famed beastie, is actually the sister of none other than movie producer Darren Goldberg (pictured above), who is making a movie about, you guessed it, …monsters.

Internet curio-blog Gotham News has just revealed the creature was most likely a prop used in Goldberg’s film Splinterheads. One insider, calling herself “Tonya,” explained the stunt will be revealed when the flick comes out next year. “Tonya” says the original pictures of the Montauk Monster were a stage prop from the Splinterheads movie set.

Says the intrepid Gotham News team: “We guess it will probably all make a little more sense when you see the film. Maybe we should just be relieved that horrible thing wasn’t actually real!”

Meanwhile, what of Mr Goldberg, who has surprisingly been unavailable for comment? In an interview he gave to Newsday recently, Goldberg is quoted saying how he “grew up in Manhattan and spent summers in Amagansett.” (Amagansett is the next town over from Montauk.) But you can read all about his movie here.

BAT’S AMAZING! MAN IN TIGHTS EYES UNSINKABLE RECORD

Posted in Batman, How much???, movies, Top Dollar Heroes, Top Dollar Movie Heroes, Top Dollar News by Jim McMillan on August 3, 2008

Previously unheralded oddball website Gotham News has been enjoying a feast of hits recently, thanks to its fictional defender, Batman. And the hits won’t stop coming in to the curioblog just so long as the Caped Crusader continues to scale dizzy heights at the box office. Perhaps in part due to the tragic death of Heath Ledger, Warner Bros movie “The Dark Knight” appears to be closing in on the all time US box office record of $600.8 million set by Titanic. The movie, which stars anti-mummy’s boy Christian Bale, has soared to a $394.9 million haul in just 17 days, according to Sunday’s studio estimates and Warner’s head of distribution Dan Fellman predicts it will sail past the $400 million mark by tomorrow night.

Despite Bale’s alleged shenanigans, since bagging an opening weekend haul of $158.4 million, Dark Knight has gone from strength to strength. According to Fellman, it will top $500 million, if not overtake Titanic’s record, which – like the boat – was thought to be pretty unsinkable.

New York Post movie critic Kyle Smith agrees with Fellman, though he thinks Titanic’s record willl stay afloat for now. “I think it can [break the record] though it’s highly unlikely it will approach the $600 million “Titanic” took in,” says Smith on his imaginatively-titled blog Kyle Smith Online.

FATZ DELI! MEG RYAN AS WE’VE NEVER SEEN HER BEFORE

Posted in Fashion, movies, Top Dollar News by Jim McMillan on July 27, 2008

THIS is actress Meg Ryan as her fans hope never to see her – 140lb heavier and slobbing in the street, feeding on junk food. Don’t worry though – it’s just a scene from her new movie, “My Mom’s Hot Boyfriend.” Meg, 46, is best known for her other famous eating scene in When Harry Met Sally in which she faked a screaming orgasm while munching on a sandwich at Katz Deli. This time though, we won’t have “what she’s having.”

While Meg hasn’t quite hit skid row yet in real life, she has suffered a string of flop films – and this one is apparently also going straight to DVD. As gossip site Defamer cruelly says, “To say that Meg’s career is in a free-fall would be to imply that her career hasn’t already hit rock bottom.

“She becomes the latest in a long string of actresses to strap herself into a fat suit, only to magically “slim down” to win the heart of a handsome man — a trick which stopped being funny the second time that the Friends gang went to that well.”
